Study with masters from many different traditions.

Chinese Music Tour: A Fieldtrip that is fun, enriching, and unforgettable!

Students from around the Bay Area and beyond are introduced to instruments of China through play-acting, story-telling, demonstration and discussion. Together the audience will discover intriguing facts such as:

Master Wang Wei, percussionist
   * Chinese instruments are classifiedby the natural materials used.

*The erhu (two-stringed fiddle) was originated from Persia, improved by the Mongolians before it became popular in China.

*A goat's hoof, a grain of sand, a pod of seeds and termites are just some of the ingredients that make musical instruments of our world.

The most exciting part is handling the instruments: strum a guzheng, bow an erhu, or pluck a pipa. A group jam of Chinese percussion at the end brings out the music in everyone.

Each presentation is 50 minutes.

Class size at the Center is 40.

Fee: $150.00 (1st to 12th grade)
